The camera zooms in on Ellen's face for her latest CoverGirl commercial. She flashes a severe scowl and a model-worthy pout. You might think she is about to explain how she got such porcelain skin and eye lashes like a baby giraffe, until she narrows her grey eyes and says, "Some models look so maaaaad." She strikes a few dramatic poses, throws one shoulder back, and declares; "Maybe it's that they spend too much on department store makeup." That may be one reason, but the real reason might be that they do something Ellen never does—take fashion too seriously.

The fifty-six-year-old comedian and talk show host simply doesn't believe in judging others. She never looks in magnification mirrors, hates those obnoxious fashion "dos and don'ts," and advises us, "Accept who you are. Unless you are a serial killer." Ellen makes being yourself look as "easy, breezy" as her commercials. But the truth behind those hip vests and laid back Converse sneakers is that while she has always accepted herself, she fought a long, hard battle to get others to accept her back. Read More>>
